Web Site Design & Development

Do I really need a website? If you have a business, you should have a website. Yes, without a doubt. At the very minimum, a website provides the means to reach millions of people because you have a “global” audience, research just about any subject, the opportunity to view products and services. The web allows you to do all of that from the convenience of a computer, no matter where you are, if there is internet access. So, no matter what type of business you are in, there is an opportunity to grow and make money on the web for you.

What am I looking for in a Web Designer?*** Okay, that’s a very good question. Folks, it’s all about chemistry. You may have worked (or at least made an attempt to work) with a business in the past that just doesn’t have it. Sometimes you can tell after just the first few minutes of the conversation whether the business simply wants to “make a sale” or acquire a new customer. I mean a longer term relationship than a phone call. So choose someone that communicates with you, is enthusiastic, has some great ideas, likes what they do, knows what they are doing and, yes, has the chemistry!

How much does a web site cost? It’s complicated! Pricing is determined by the customer’s wants and needs. It is based on considerations such as how many pages you are going to have, the type of website, community association, e-commerce, etc., the graphic work involved, and how interactive your future web site will be. Liquid Associates can also provide other services such as domain name registration and annual hosting, if required, for an additional cost.

How long does it take to create a website? A web site can usually be completed and published within two to six weeks based on our current customer schedule, the size and complexity of the design, and custom work (such as graphics) required.

Can you redesign our existing website? Yes, we would be happy to review all aspects of your site and advise you how to improve its look, content and search engine rankings and provide a quote to carry out redesign & optimization work.

Can you create or redesign a Word Press web site? Yes, we do develop web sites using the word press content management system.  WordPress currently powers about 20% of the websites that you see everyday.  It’s a powerful platform that can be used for simple blogs or complex business sites. Performing a redesign on a WordPress content management system website usually requires replacing the design theme. The complexity of this effort depends on whether the theme and/or word press versions are up to date. See the FAQ page for more information.

How do I get started? If you already have an idea of what you want then that’s great. If you have no idea other than you know that you need a web site, then we can help and assist you from the very beginning with no additional fees.

What do I need to supply? We need your vision of what you would like to see in the design of your site. We also need any photos, content, or information that you would like included. Then we can put it together and help you tweak your plan to achieve your goals!

*** Customers often ask us what is the difference between the terms “web design” and “web development” which are often used interchangeably, but really have different meanings. Web Design is the process of conceptualizing, planning, and producing web page content the customer sees when viewing the website. It involves building a collection of electronic files that determine the layout, colors, text styles, structure, graphics, images, and use of interactive features that deliver pages to your site visitors. A web designer is concerned with how a site looks and how the customers interact with it in terms of navigation and features created by developers. Web Development is the back-end of the website, the programming and interactions on the pages. You will hear words like coding, applications, CMS (content management systems), connectivity and many others. Web designers and developers work together — with the client — to produce a product that realizes the client’s vision for a presence on the internet and completes the business objectives.
